"After one run in six innings of being routed by a highly seasoned team (they've been playing together for two years), Coach Brian helped us score five runs in the last inning (for a total of six runs)!!! There were some really great plays by the team both infield and outfield (catches and outs by Kathy, Dave, David, pitching by Bill and Robert) and we had some hits  (Bob Curtis's first RBI and our guest player Jeanie hitting a single!!) that were outstanding. Not bad for a team that is still working on its positions! Most were first time at their played positions (Kim Blaser as Catcher, Kathy at 2nd, Jane in the Outfield) and still learning how to play together well as a team. Also next week some of our missing female players will be back." — Steve Traylor

"Last night's resounding win (24-5) over the U of O Bookies was no small feat. They played together last year and definitely had some above "D" League players. Congratulations are definitely in order for everyone. Good job team! After the Bookies scored five runs in the first inning (they never scored after that) Lynn, Kim, and Bill came back with three runs of our own. Followed by eight runs in the second inning, six runs in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth. Great teamwork by the outfield and infield, double plays, great catches, and excellent fielding (let's not forget wonderful pitching and catching) kept them from scoring again, after the first inning. I think everybody is finding positions they feel good
about." — Steve Traylor

"After six innings, a score of 7-5 and us thinking the game was over, the ump told us we had 15 more minutes to play. After two more innings we went on to win another game with a final score of 8-5! Good teamwork by everybody:

  • Jess "Monsta-Pocket" Burns pitching
  • Kim "You Call That A Pitch?" Blaser and Alisha "Rosie" Baber catching
  • Brian "Yellow Shorts" Brands at First
  • Kathy "Tag Back" Mayer at Second
  • Bob "The Axle" Curtis at Third
  • David "Grappler" Lanza at Shortstop
  • Annie "You're Out" Brice at Left Field
  • Robert "I Got Glove" Young at Center Field
  • Jackie "Pick Up Game" Turle and Darby "I'm In" Croston at Right Field
  • Steve "Where do you want me?" Traylor floating
  • Kate "THAT'S AN OUT!!" Weber keeping score

Everyone got in some good hits and just played really tightly." — Steve Traylor

"Our loss last night was an anomaly caused by the loss of a lot of key players, placement of players in positions they were unfamiliar with, and having to change the key batting order. I take full responsibility :(. I'll do better next time ;). Thanks to Daniele McCallum for filling-in in a pinch and to the rest of the team for doing their best. We missed Jess "Monsta-Pocket" Burns, Annie "You're Out!" Brice, Brian "Yellow Shorts" Brands, and Jackie "Pickup Game" Turle. Hope they get back soon :). — Steve Traylor
