2007 LCEA Election underway
On April 9th members were emailed instructions on how to vote for LCEA officers and representatives using an online voting system from Voting on Demand (VOD). LCEA has tried different methods of electronic voting in the past, but VOD provides a number of attractive, easy-to-use features while maintaining integrity in the voting process. The LCEA Nominating and Elections Committee has been quite pleased with how smoothly the elections have been going and look forward to seeing high voter turnout.

OEA-PIE recommends candidates
Over the weekend OEA-member-delegates gathered at the People for the Improvement of Education (PIE) Convention to determine which candidates best meet the union's pro-education criteria. The most dramatic outcome was a "No Recommendation" for the governorship, reflecting dissatisfaction with Governor Ted Kulongski's past term and reluctance to provide full backing to relative unknowns Pete Sorenson (D) and Ben Westlund (I). Continue to view more photos, learn more about the recommendation process, or find out which candidates measured up to OEA's pro-education criteria.

Debbie Egan appointed ESD Superintendent
At a special meeting on March 7, 2006 the Lane ESD Board of Directors appointed Debbie J. Egan as superintendent of the agency effective July 1, 2006.
On March 2, 2006 LCEA members and members of management were invited to meet and interview the top candidates for the position. Feedback from both groups were then forwarded to the ESD Board's interview committee, which held its interviews that evening. This was the first time the superintendent selection process solicited employee feedback in this manner.

Vernon Elementary School then as Director of Programs. She also worked in the Oakridge School District for 10 years as a teacher and administrator.
